I feel like crap… I felt like crap when I woke up this morning and the walk to the bus stop didn’t help it but made it somewhat worse. And now I’m sitting in my office just miserable. I might just have to bail out of here a lot earlier than I originally leave. It all depends upon how I’m feeling over the next couple of hours.
It’s not too warm outside at 5:45 and yet I was sweating… my stomach is doing flips and going into knots… I feel slightly light-headed…
Not going to be a good day… I can fell it already. Maybe do enough paperwork to help out Deb with her stuff and then get the fuck out of Dodge before everything comes up and out…
more later maybe… depends if I am at home or not… and how I am feeling by that time.

bad title? Probably… but it’s me we are talking about here.
If you have been living under a rock for the past four or five days… Southern California has been the center of the media and not for being awesome. Yeah… something about huge ass fires burning out of control from just north of Santa Barbara down to south of San Diego and even a few fires burning in Baja California. Seeing satellite images of the the area has been insane because while there aren’t clouds to be seen for a couple hundred miles you definitely see the smoke from all of these fires that are burning.
Anyway… locally we had the Santiago fire burning. Mmm… nice smoky ashy air. Pool is nasty looking… really need to invest in a brush for that pool to sweep down the sides at least… and probably the steps. Sheesh. Can’t wait on the poolman, ya know?
And of course those lovely fires were fueled by nice hot and fast winds… oh Santa Ana winds… why do you hate us so? Have we done something horribly bad to you in the past? Oh, you’re gone now? Thank you… I can finally open up my place again to let a bit of air to circulate and not fear having my place blown apart or full of dirt and ash.
So… the big fires happened to be well south of us… in San Diego County. Some ridiculous number of residents down there under mandatory evacuation… fire department just overwhelmed with the task in front of them. They were just about ready to let it burn straight to the Pacific from the sounds of things and I think they still are just letting it go as far west as possible while still trying to protect structures as much as possible.
So where is this all going? One of my clients… the dudes with the chocolate fountains… they were right in the sights of the Witch Creek fire… the community of Rancho Bernardo. Little did I know that he also lived in that community (short drive to work… nice!!!). I knew something was up on Monday when the trucking service that they use for pick-ups and deliveries didn’t show up and didn’t call. So I do some internet sleuthing… and find out that a) both the trucking company and the chocolate dudes are in the mandatory evac area. My manager has been bugging me for the past couple of days asking about some “dead” components that were supposed to be picked up by the trucking company and apparently has no sympathy for the fact that these people are possibly losing their homes and/or businesses. Email have been left for them… voice mails… and today Production wanted to start running the chocolate that we got last week but never got word from the chocolate dudes how they wanted it packaged (4# or 20# shippers).
Today I finally called my contact down there on his cellphone… something I did not want to do but did anyway because I was actually concerned, unlike some people around here it seems. No talk of business… just checking in to see how they were holding up and whatnot. House okay? Family okay? The good news was that his house was not burned… his parents house took some minor damage but was put out quickly… fire is now heading north towards his in-laws house *sigh* Can’t these people get a break? But it seems that they are apparently being allowed to head back home today even though I didn’t see anything on the SD emergency site stating that area had had the mandatory evacuation lifted. Last check I saw on the site showed Rancho Bernardo still under evaluation. Hmmm…
But good to see that the National Guard is being put to good use. They were preventing folks from entering the evac’d areas this morning. Hurray for keeping the looters out!!! And kudo’s to the San Diego D.A. for pointing out that looting during a state of emergency is a felony, not a misdemeanor. And shame on those who did loot…
So all in all… a rather interesting week for most in Southern California. Santiago fire is still burning it seems as the clouds of smoke don’t seem to be getting any lighter in color. The smoke is creating funky colors or everything with the sun filtering through it. Ash is raining down and just making a mess of everything. The next rain is going to really be interesting with the burn areas and all the ash and soot that settled down is going to be messy.
In the meantime… it’s a lot of picking up everywhere after the winds wreaked havoc on the area. Broken branches… toppled trees… piles of leaves and pine needles collecting in the gutters… roofs to be repaired… satellite dishes to be realigned (yes, the winds were so strong they moved my dish alignment to south)…

What are the only things to survive a nuclear attack?
Well it seems that the Mythbusters crew is tackling at least one of those two things, and it isn’t Keith Richards.

or not…
for those interested, there is a new museum/cultural arts center in Anaheim… it opened this past week and currently has the current exhibit Imperial Rome: Discovering The Ancient Civilization showing.
Milady and I are probably hitting it up tomorrow to get our first look at the place. It’s located near Anaheim City Hall and is open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm. Admission isn’t bad… $12.95 for adults. A lot cheaper than the mouse trap down the street. What is it to get in there now? $66 for one of the parks or $91 for both parks? Fuck you Mickey… so much for “fun for the whole family.” Take your family to a museum instead… it’s cheaper… and you actually learn something more than that mommy has to whore herself out at night so that you can see Mickey and friends.
So check it out… Muzeo… and teachers, this could be a nice trip for classes that are learning about Ancient Rome. But hurry… the exhibit goes away on 7 January 2008. After that… it’s “Chicano/Chicana Life Across America” which opens in February 2008.

first the news on my mouth… final sets are in and I am currently wearing them. Was in a lot of pain yesterday when they popped them in and some pain this morning as I was not going to remain in pain all bloody night so I had to take them out. This morning my gums seem to be adjusting and molding properly. Still need to get that top plate ground down a bit… I can feel it very near that area that makes you gag. Not good when I’m trying to smoke or talk for long periods of time.
Go back in this afternoon for some adjustments to make sure that they aren’t digging into some part of my mouth that will ultimately be harmful for me.
LadyClayton, I called it right in passing on the invite to go to the game. There was definite pain and I kept them in for as long as I could last night but finally had to pull them out.
Speaking of the game. Holy crap!!!! I have never seen Kunitz get into a fight before. That kid unloaded on Zidlicky… and clearly won that fight. Zidlicky decided he was going to try a little roughing up after the whistle… stick went down but not the gloves. Kunitz saw the stick drop so he dropped his stick and gloves and all hell broke loose. Zidlicky just covered his face with his gloved hands while Kunitz kicked the crap out of him on the ice. The fight ended with Kunitz almost forcing Zidlicky down to suck his dick. Well… it looked like that’s what he was doing since Zidlicky was being such a little bitch.
Parros got an assist last night… Drew Miller (Baby Crunchy as some have named him) got his first NHL goal… and some other new guy, Petteri Wirtanen scored too.
Okay, got to look up this Wirtanen kid… played for the Portland Pirates last year… got 18 points in 67 games. He’s from Finland… was picked by the Ducks in the sixth round of the 2006 entry draft. Not a great player but apparently was able to get the job done last night. He’s still got some learning to do. His best years were back in 2002 & 2003 when he played in Finland. The numbers seem to have dropped since then. Maybe Anaheim can hone those skills and get those numbers back up again. Of course as soon as Todd Marchant and Todd Bertuzzi come back Wirtanen will be shipped back down to Portland.
Next Anaheim is on the road for a couple of games… Dallas on Saturday and then St. Louis on Tuesday. Should be interesting to see both teams as they are both doing rather well thus far in the season. Granted, Anaheim has played the most regular season games thus far with 9… and that win last night put us back into first in the Pacific and third in the conference. Not bad… fifth in the league. ^_^
And while I grumble about the piss poor start that Anaheim had… it’s not as bad as Atlanta’s 0-6 start (fired their head coach already)… and what looks like the rest of the league just hovering around the .500 mark. Is Atlanta going to be the bitch team this year after last year’s rather intriguing finish? They were hot last year… got the nickname “Hotlanta” because of how good they were. This year? They can’t do crap. They lost a lot of players due to lack of re-signings of UFA players and what they did sign wasn’t comparable to what they lost. In six games they have scored nine goals and given up twenty-seven. Only team worse in the goals against are the LA Kings who have given up thirty so far. Granted the Kings are still sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference (*shock* & *awe*), they have at least won a couple of games. One was against Anaheim… the other was the overtime shootout with Minnesota a couple of nights ago. Other than that, they would be 0-5 if not for those two games. Anaheim at least has a couple more wins than two… ^_^
so now I’m sitting here… covering the desk of another for the day. And then tomorrow is going over of another’s desk which I’ll be covering next week. *sigh*
And in it all, somehow get the new mouth used to eating a wider variety of foods again. Maybe today I’ll try out that corndog… or see if Milady is interested in some Weinerschnitzel goodness on my way home from the dentist…

Okay… I do… but that is besides the point and not going into here… but I will go into the past weekend of events.
Saturday: woke up to rain… QUICK!!! Shut the fuckin’ windows!!! I got up around my typical time and headed into the front room where Cache was already awake since he had to leave for work a short time later.
He left for work… and I finally got frustrated enough with the build up of clutter in our place that I started clearing shelves and shredding and whatever else I could do to start to ease the clutter. Still have some areas to attack, but I’m getting there. Old magazines… tossed. Old press kits… tossed. Nothing was safe from my wrath that morning.
Got the new keg delivered that morning as well… was to be between 10am – 12pm. Showed up a bit before 12pm. *shock* He got it all hooked up and poured off the first pint and handed it to me. Hmmm… not quite noon yet but he’s handing me a pint. Should I drink it? Of course!!! And I did… and kept drinking until later that evening when Milady, Cache, and I headed out for a birthday celebration for LadyClayton. The festivities included ice skating at a local ice rink. Cache has never ice skated before… it’s been quite a while since Milady has laced up… and about ten years since I last laced up. And I was comfortably buzzed too. Can we see where this is going in a horribly bad “omg!!! He’s going to break something or lose a limb” kind of way? Wearing figure skating blades… that were ancient. Could not get them tight enough for my ankles… and just felt like I was going to snap something if I fucked up somewhere. Hit the ice… took me a minute to get used to it again. But in no time I was skating around… and somewhere… somehow I lost it all and went flat onto my ass. *CRACK* Ow…
Though I am sure it could have been a lot worse… this is the one time I am thankful I was drinking. Otherwise I would have tensed up even more on my drop to the ice and probably broken my ass instead of bruising the crap out of it. It still does hurt to sit by the way. Skated a few more laps before deciding that my ass and my ankles were not worth it anymore. Next time… get some real skates on these feet ^_~
Next we were all off to the El Torito Grill down the street from the rink for dinner and drinks. We get there and the group is starting to grow larger and larger. Almost doubled in terms of the number of guests from what I could tell.
This is where the evening takes a bad turn. Restaurant is nearly dead. We are a group of about twenty… with reservations for a party that large. Manager on Duty (MoD) comes over about 5-10 minutes after we’ve already been seated to take drink orders. And it took forever for the drinks to be delivered… and somewhere in there we had our food orders to be placed. Eventually things started happening but only after on of the members of our table went up to the MoD and said something.
We interrupt this post for an interesting question…
The time is currently 1:18pm on 15 October 2007. The current temperature is 64 degrees and it is cloudy outside. No sunlight to warm the outside air… and yet Lotion Girl has requested me to turn on the A/C unit over my desk because “she’s warm and it’s stuffy in here.” Alright Shamu… but only because I am too damn tired to put up a fight and listen to you bitch and whine all fuckin’ afternoon.
Back to the show…
Somewhere along the way we got our food… and apparently some people were able to order a second round of drinks (mine took so long to get there in the first place I didn’t get the chance for a second drink order)… we ate… and then my trio left after we paid our check (I paid the check… and most of the tip for the parking valet, which this restaurant only offers. No self-parking… thank goodness it’s “complimentary”). Got home… had another drink then off to bed…
Sunday: up again early and this time instead of magazines, I attacked the CD case. Got rid of CD’s that I no longer care about… or cared about enough for just one song. Milady joined me at some point to partake in the purging of CD’s from our collection. The end result was a lot of CD’s going bye-bye and me having room on my shelves for more CD’s if that ever becomes the case.
The hammered through some of the stuff on the DVR… then Milady and I trotted along in WoW for a while until the hockey game. Was playing during the hockey game for a bit but found it too distracting from all the fights that kept taking place in the hockey game. Who knew that Minnesota and Anaheim hated each other so much? ^_~
Killed WoW… focused on the game… it just wasn’t Anaheim’s night (has it been their night for many of their games thus far?)… watched a couple more things on the DVR and then crashed (allegedly) for the night.
Monday: I’m at work… having been awake since about 2:30 this morning. Won’t go into it… but I’m awake and I’m cranky and barely staying awake right now. Another game tonight and I don’t give a fuck… I’m not staying beyond 4pm today. I’d like to see if I might be able to catch a small nap this afternoon before the game.
so that is my weekend in a nutshell… trying to force myself to stay awake right now but not an easy thing to do when there is nothing on my desk to really do. And if I did, it would be so monotonous that I’d be falling asleep typing crap into an Excel spreadsheet…

12 Girls Band… it’s a lie!!!! There are thirteen girls in that band… and all thirteen on stage at the same time. Don’t let the name fool you as it did me… I had to count them on the stage several times to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating or something.
Good performance… too bad the same can’t be said about the rest of the venue. Narrow tables that have people seated on both sides… plates that are overly huge for those tables and still be able to seat ten people at a table… some of the food looking good and other not looking so good… and an extremely crappy wine selection. Sorry, but having a White Zifandel does not constitute it being under the listing of white wines… it’s a bastardization of wine and should be either removed and placed in an “Other” category or just completely removed from the menu.
I had the seared ahi… Milady had the ribeye steak. Surprisingly both were good. And for dessert I had the green tea ice cream and Milady had the creme brule. Also, both surprisinly good. Too bad that could not be said for the rest of the menu. They wanted to impress and they seem to have barely scraped by with dishes that are even edible. Their mixed green salad was overly complex and apparently not good eats… at least according to one person at our table. The plate was the long skinny design that was supposed to be like an artists palette and completely wrong for the dish. Now the Cesar Salad looked good… too bad it was a meal on it’s own. One did not need to order anything else if they got that salad. The thing was huge…
in other news… The Anaheim Ducks are finally home tonight to play their home opener against the Boston Bruins. Somewhere in there I am trying to figure out when they are going to hoist the championship banner… not sure if it’s going to be during the Ducks Live pre-game show at 6:30pm or before the actual puck drop that will delay the start of the game by up to thirty minutes. Guess we will have to find out the hard way… FSN Prime Ticket… that’s the channel to tune in to this evening.
that is all… go about your business… there’s nothing to see here…

and not spend a lot of money… BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
After our trip to WDW next year, Milady and I are looking at going international… time to get out of the typical routine of going to WDW every few years. Especially with them changing up CM benefits when visiting other resorts but that’s another time and another story.
And where are we looking to visit? Germany? France? United Kingdom? Yeah… whatever we can manage to pull off in a manner of something like two or three weeks. But in order to do so we are actually wanting to not look like the ignorant American tourists… and are willing to learn a new language. I am going to work on German… and Milady has volunteered to take French.
So how does one go about learning a new language that does not entail going to school? Books… CD-Roms… audio CD’s… DVD’s…
Apparently “immersion learning” is the big thing. Hearing the language spoken and associating the words to an image. So this is what is employed by the makers of the Rosetta Stone language series… but the problem with this is that each level of learning costs at least US$200. Granted the price drops as you buy the “bundles”… $349 for levels 1 & 2… or for all three levels a mere $499. I’m paying off a mouth… how in the hell does one afford these things? And are they worth the amount of money they are being sold for? Amazon does have them slightly cheaper, but not by much. And with Milady wanting to learn French… we can all see where this is going to lead. And eventually I should start to learn Spanish since that seems to be the main language of the warehouse around here. Would shock the crap out of folks though if I started figuring out what they were saying… and I could possibly reply too ^_~
So that is where we are at this point in time with all of that. We could employ other methods in which to procure the wanted items, but doing so would require the most elite of the elite… the most diabolical of the diabolical… the most, oh nevermind… it’s rather simple actually just not going to admit one way or another if I used such means. That would be admission of guilt and not something I’d do openly. :P
On to other things… a request for those who have received Christmas cards from us in the past, if you have moved at all in the past year please tell us now or forever hold your piece. Not going to be happy if we get returned envelopes.
Speaking of the holidays… there is something in the works for a holiday gathering… pencil in 15 December if I remember correctly. Further information later… but let’s just say that I’m not going to bust my arse like previous years. No more stressful events ^_~
and that about covers things for now. The Ducks are off to a horrid start winning only one game and making it to OT in another game in their first five games. I can understand the whole thing about the schedule being fucked because of the first two games in London, UK and then having to fly to Detroit for a game a few days later while the LA Kings did not play their next game until when? This past Saturday? Not cool… don’t fuck with my Ducks right now. They are tired… jet lagged… and just ready to get home again after being away for the past couple of weeks.
Home game on Wednesday evening at the Pond… uhm, Honda Center against the Boston Bruins. 7:05pm PT is the puck drop if I recall… won’t be attending that game since it’s WAY to expensive to try and get tickets since they sold out almost immediately… so I’ll be watching from home.
But… that doesn’t mean I’m going to doing nothing this week. Milady and I are going to see Twelve Girl Band tomorrow evening at the Grove of Anaheim. And whether or not Cache agrees with this or not… it’s a date. :P
And might be back later this week for more typing and pointless crap…
