For those reading this at home… this is the time that you quickly scroll by and ignore/skip/delete this entry…
Some folks over on LJ might be aware that recently I partook in a charity auction for Child’s Play that netted me getting any WoW character of my choice turned into a little cellphone charm, a cool icon… and a decent sized (600×600 pixel) image for whatever. Last weekend I posted up a survey showing six different images… three in my Night Elf form with three different weapons equipped and three in my Moonkin (BOOMKIN!!!!!!) with three different weapons equipped.
Basically, the winner was the beast staff… but the form is a toss-up still. If you are interested… you can head on over here and vote… I think I made the voting public to all… and whatnot, even those who used to have accounts and have since canceled them.
The voting has literally come down to image 2 and 4… and the final decision will be made this weekend so I can submit my screenshots to get my character transmorgafied (don’t ask… don’t tell…) because I’m sure the guys over at The Bronze Kettle would love to finally be done with my shit. ^_~
Speaking of charities… there is a story making the rounds coming out of the Sacramento area. Long story short? 9-year-old kid got a Nintendo Wii for his birthday after his mother waited in line for several hours to get him one. Dad is working with a children’s toy drive for the holidays. Kid decides to donate his brand fuckin’ new Nintendo Wii to the toy drive… O_o
Dude, I like doing shit for organizations like Child’s Play and CHOC… but there is no way in hell I would be giving up my Wii or Xbox 360. This kid is just nuts… he needs to be evaluated ^_~
Holiday gathering coming up… small intimate affair from the looks of it. Honeybaked ham ordered and should be delivered next week. Hot buttered rum stuff to be made this weekend. Looking at also making homemade marshmallows… and possibly some other stuff. Depends on how I’m feeling this weekend and next week. New keg to be delivered next Saturday too…
Still need to wrap Milady’s gifts even though I know I have a few more boxes on their way in the coming weeks.
Trying to figure out something for one more person… but she’s a pain in the arse to buy for since her wishlist is so bloody short… kind of takes the fun out of it ya know?
Now to the Ducks…
For anyone not paying attention to the sports section of the newspaper or local news, Scott Niedermayer finally announced this past week that he was coming back to Anaheim for at least this season. He started practicing with the team the day after his announcement… and will be staying in Anaheim while the rest of the team is on a three-game road trip. We could see Scott skating in a game as soon as next Wednesday against Vancouver… but we all seem to think that he’ll be making his re-appearance next Friday against Minnesota…
But in order to do so, Brian Burke has to move at least one player from the roster that could affect next years salary cap since Scott’s return put a crimp on next years salary cap.
Several names are being tossed around… Todd Marchant… Francois Beauchemin… Andy McDonald. Even names like Mathieu Schneider are being tossed around. Personally, I don’t want Schneider to be the one to go… I would love to see him and Scott playing together. That would be a line to reckon with ^_~
But for now it’s a game of wait and see…
But with this all happening there are some concerns now… namely being Corey Perry. At the end of this season he is a restricted free agent (RFA) and Anaheim can give him an offer sheet… he can accept it or pass on it. They can take him to arbitration… but if after his initial rejection, another team can do up an offer sheet. The original team can match that offer sheet or pass. If they choose to pass then the offering team just got themselves another player but are going to lose a draft pick or two in the process for the following season. Such was the case this past summer with Dustin Penner. Edmonton offered a lot of money that Anaheim was not going to match. Too bad that large amount of money wasn’t money in the bank for Edmonton to get a great player… ^_~
So now we are on Perry watch…
But that has no affect on this season… ^_~
With Scott coming back we still have about 2 million in cap space left to play with… Teemu, interested in a small contract for the rest of the season? ^_~
Game tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks… currently sitting one spot ahead of Anaheim in the Western Conference standings. Game is at 5:30pm PT… on FSN West. I’ll be watching most of the game alone… so let’s see if Anaheim can win on the road… ^_^
EDIT!!!!!
It seems I missed this gem… don’t know how I missed it. Oh… yeah… that’s why. Wal*Mart…
Ducks Players Will Sign Autographs at Three Locations on Saturday Dec. 15 to Kick-Off the Partnership
The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the club has partnered with Wal-Mart to make Wild Wingers Kids Club kits available for purchase at 26 of the retail giant’s Southland locations.
