a relaxing afternoon

I was out of the office by 11:30 this morning since someone had to be here for the phone guy for Cache’s place. Didn’t want to rely on Sally so I offered to come home early.
The guy showed up rather quickly… was impressed by that one since when they give you a window they typically show up when the fuck ever… usually towards the end of that window. This guy was here… checked inside the apartment and found that there were two jacks that could be used… but nothing coming in. Went to the phone box outside somewhere… and *poof*… Cache has a live phone line… now just to wait on the DSL to go live.

Grand Theft Auto IV came out today amidst a lot of controversy from the ignorant… it’s too violent… it’s too sexual… it’s too EVERYTHING!!!
You know what? Fuck you… it’s rated M… 17+ to buy the game. And yes, I got fuckin’ carded when I picked up my copy on my way home. I am well over the minimum age requirement for purchasing this game and here I am getting carded in order to buy this game. Someone please tell me this is a bit of irony that the retail stores and ESRB aren’t trying to crackdown on kids getting their hands on games that they aren’t meant to be playing? Now… if only the fuckin’ parents would pay attention to what they are buying for their kids…

Oh well… I’m off to go rob some motherfuckers and shoot me some bitches…

really need to keep my mouth shut…

The Milwaukee Admirals were eliminated from the Calder Cup playoffs on Saturday in an ass-kicking loss to Chicago.

In other hockey news though, the Pittsburgh Penguins are kicking ass and taking names. I don’t think the Rangers were quite expecting what they are seeing in this series, but the real test for Pittsburgh will come when they play in New York.

Dallas is delivering a blow to the back of the head of the San Jose Sharks. While I have my hatred for the Stars, my hatred for the Sharks is even greater. I do not want San Jose to advance any further… and hope that Detroit can knock Dallas out of it in the Conference Finals.
Seriously… San Jose blew a 2-1 lead in the third period and had four consecutive goals scored on them. Whoops. With the exception of one stupid mistake that I saw Turco do that gave San Jose the 2-1 lead, I have rarely seen Turco really tested. The Dallas defender really know how to clear players out from around the crease. And they protect their goaltender… big time.
But it’s always nice to see Ron Wilson looking rather frustrated over on the bench. I’ve hated him ever since that little bullshit stunt he pulled last year against Selanne. I hope SJ loses and the organization fire his ass. Arrogant prick.

Who else is still playing? Detroit – Colorado… Detroit is going to rock the crap out of Colorado in this series. It’s already showing that after Game 2. Colorado is missing some players in their line-up that helped them advance to the second round and that will be their downfall ultimately. They banked too much on certain players to be there for them through the playoffs and now they are fucked.

Oh yes… and then there is the Montreal – Philadelphia series that is tied up right now with one a piece. I know I was not placing a lot of confidence on the Flyers to even get out of the first round… I don’t think anyone outside of Philly was giving them much hope but somehow they really turned around from where they were a year ago. A year ago they were the worst team in the East… now they are rocking the second round of the playoffs.
And if Montreal wins or loses, I’m pretty damn sure there is going to be a riot of some sorts in the streets of Montreal. Those crazy Canadians did their thing after they won the first round… why not expect something like it to happen again, win or lose? This isn’t geared at all Canadians or Montreal fans… but more at the pig fuckers that are leaving a really nice blackeye on the sport of hockey… knock it the fuck off. You want to riot… loot… and burn? Burn your own fuckin’ cars… loot your own fuckin’ houses. Don’t be like those soccer hooligans :P

Moving on…

Cache’s place is pretty much complete. He’s got the cabinet doors with him that he needs to work on this week but all else is done. Windows are back up… and it’s amazing what happens when someone actually cleans the windows. It’s amazing… you can actually see out of them! Hey Trish… glass cleaner… it’s amazing!
The tile has all been put down… currently we have a ton of books set out all over the floor to keep pressure on the tiles since it’s been bloody fuckin’ hot this past weekend (99 on Saturday and 101 on Sunday) and we want to make sure the tiles stick properly.
Cache’s new fridge was delivered on Saturday and it’s beauty… and kicks ass. It’s currently in it’s new home in the kitchen since we couldn’t put it in there when it was delivered as I was still laying tile.

and that’s about it… this weekend should hopefully be a lot more relaxing than the past month ^_^

some not-so-goodness brought to you by Pinkberry…

mmm… Pinkberry… or at least that’s what Milady’s cousin, ScaryTeddy, thinks. Too bad she might not be totally aware of the fact that their “all-natural taste” is nothing more than pure crap.
Hello children… can you say “laboratory produced ingredients”? I knew you could…

So without further ado… I present to you the New York Times

some Calder Cup goodness…

Filed under: Anaheim Ducks,Hockey, random crap — Niekon @ 8:06 am

My Ducks might be out of it but I have a couple of teams that made it into the Calder Cup playoffs this season and the first round is going on right now. So let’s take a look shall we?

Over in the East the Portland Pirates (Anaheim’s farm team) kicked ass in the first round by eliminating the Hartford Wolf Pack 4-1. They are set to face off against the Providence Bruins who swept the Manchester Monarchs in the first round… best of luck to Portland in the second round.
Portland ended the season fifth in the East, but third in their division. Providence was first in the conference.

Over in the West are the Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville’s farm team) currently playing against the Chicago Wolves. Chicago leads the series 3-2 with the next game tomorrow evening in Milwaukee.
So why the Admirals? Cool logo… ^_^

there… happy now? I’m talking hockey again. :P

Other hockey news: there were a lot of rumors going around in the Canadian media and eventually the made their way to the SoCal media that Ducks GM Brian Burke might be leaving Anaheim to become the GM for either the Toronto Maple Leafs or the Vancouver Canucks. That rumor got put aside rather quickly a couple of days ago when the Ducks had a press conference to discuss all of this. Burke is on for at least one more year with Anaheim. The organization has not started to discuss a contract extension yet with Burke but are known to be interested in keeping him around beyond next season.

Teemu Selanne and Scott Niedermayer… the two players that pulled the “I think I’m going to retire… whoops… I guess I’m not” mid-season are once again heading to the front of the rumor line… will they or won’t they return for another season?
Well, it’s been said that Burke and the Ducks organization will not allow them the time that they were afforded last season. They have to make their intentions known to the organization before 1 July. Scott still has one more year left on his contract and Teemu is a UFA.
But Anaheim’s key right now must be to re-sign Corey Perry before 1 July or else other teams will swoop in with unmatchable offer sheets (hello… anyone remember Dustin Penner last summer? Anyone remember how well that didn’t turn out for Edmonton? Oops!!!).
Anaheim is in serious need of offensive players. We have defensive players coming out of our arses (a rather painful thing when they have their skates on) but our offense is lacking that punch to get the shots on net and scoring chances. If you looked at the shots on goal for Anaheim in the first round of the playoffs that should say something right there. There were some atrocious numbers there… and it was like that all season too. Bertuzzi would skate it to the net and pass it… Getzlaf was doing the same thing… we needs shots on net because weird things happen when you shoot the puck at the net… sometimes it goes in. *shock*

I cannot fault the team entirely for their early exit. Dallas has had Anaheim’s number all season long. I was really hoping to not have to face Dallas in the first round but luck was not on Anaheim’s side for the first round. I am hoping it’s a bitter lesson for the players who will be remaining with the team next season (that does not include you Doug Weight) that you cannot sit on your ass when you only have a 1-goal lead in a game. You have to pressure your opponent… spend more time in their zone than a simple dump and chase that last maybe ten seconds before it’s coming back towards your net.
What I can blame this team for though is not playing their game. They have been known as a hard hitting team and while there was some hitting… it was like Anaheim just didn’t have it in them anymore to hit anyone. They just seemed ready to exit the playoffs as soon as possible.
They do get a pass since it’s the season following a championship. While most other teams had a nice break between seasons Anaheim and Ottawa both had a longer season than the other teams… and Anaheim got screwed with that whole “let’s start the season with two games in the UK”. But Anaheim had better get their shit together next season. The excuses won’t fly next season… do or do not… there is no try.

And for those wondering about the status of Cahce’s place… the walls are all painted and the door frames are needing a second coat. No biggie…
The dining room and kitchen floor needs to be tiled still which HAS to be this weekend. Cache has his new fridge being delivered tomorrow which will make me happy because that ugly piece of shit will be gone from the place.
After that it’s all up to Cache. He still needs blinds… and we need to work on the windows and screens. But everything else is on him… he can pretty much start moving in now. He has power… and allegedly should have a live phone line (forgot to check that yesterday)… gas line still needs to be turned on but that can come later on. No big rush right now, right?

It will be nice to have my weekends back again where I’m doing nothing…

not quite… but close enough…

Filed under: random crap — Niekon @ 11:09 am

Someone made mention that I’ve been rather silent since last week… and it’s probably because I have nothing to write about right now. Anaheim got eliminated in Game 6… Cache’s place is just about complete… work is long… and not enough sleep in a night only to repeat the process again at 4:45am the next morning.

In the meantime… this video is DEFINTELY NSFW… but I could not resist. Hide the children… grab those headphones… enjoy…

maybe later on once things are somewhat back to normal I’ll start posting up again in the near future. I just want to try and get back into a rhythm of things again.

Not the rhythm I was looking for…

I’m going to keep posting up YouTube videos until someone says something… :P

is he back?

Filed under: Anaheim Ducks — Niekon @ 10:20 am

There is a lot of talk going around the online hockey community that #10 will be making his return to the lineup for the first time in six weeks since taking a skate blade to thigh exactly six weeks ago today.
If Perry returns tonight, I am going to be expecting he won’t have a lot of ice time… but at the same time I think he will be wanting as much ice time as possible to help create more offensive shots on goal and pick up the scoring pace by quite a bit.

And given how the whole scoring thing has gone for Anaheim in the first three games: 0, 2, and 4 goals… I am expecting no less than 6 goals from Anaheim tonight. ^_~

No I’m kidding… I’m expecting Dallas to have one of those “oh shit” moments and will be scrambling trying to shutdown Anaheim after the win the other night. Anaheim still took more penalties than Dallas but they weren’t a lot of stupid penalties unlike Dallas that seemed to have a clusterfuck of stupid penalties one after another. Seriously… how many times can you get a delay of game penalty before your coach has a stroke? What was it the other night? Two delay of games penalties in a row… the second coming while they were still trying to kill off the first one… thus giving Anaheim something along the lines of seventy seconds of a 5-on-3.

Rob Niedermayer is still not expected to play as he is experiencing “concussion-like symptoms”. As of yesterday he still had not flown to Dallas and nothing is really being said this morning so far.

EDIT: Sorry folks… hit the “publish” button when I just wanted to do a save instead. This is what I get for multi-tasking at work ^_~

Anyway, Robbie was out for Game 3 and we are expecting him to probably be out for Game 4. And I almost think him being out of the lineup is a good thing. At times he’s trying too hard and pulls some really stupid moves that leave everyone scratching their heads in wonderment. If you are on a breakaway… you do not do some weak-ass backhanded shot towards the net. You fuckin’ pull that fucker into your feet and let it rip. You are not Scott… don’t try to be like him. Seriously… just stop trying to live up to Scott… you’re never going to come close.

As for the rest of the Ducks team: it was nice to see that you realized that these were the playoffs… and you had to play well and win in order to stay in the playoffs. If you can perform like you did in Game 3 then you have a real shot at winning the series. Let’s just not have a repeat of the 3rd period please… you made me really bloody nervous in that final half of the period. O_O

If it’s true that Perry is back tonight then I cannot really see Dallas containing Anaheim… too much speed and skill on coming at them will prove too be the downfall of Dallas and definitely put Turco to the test.
Now… if only we could figure out a way to get Parros to drop them against Ott… ^_^

new toys

Filed under: random crap — Niekon @ 11:03 am

I have a new toy in my little blog here which I’m experimenting with… an image gallery. First of all, I want to say that the upgrade to WordPress 2.5 looks nice on the admin side of things. The front page should not change one bit but we’ll have to see. But everything looks the same on that end. It’s the stuff behind the scenes that changed quite a bit in terms of the UI. I like it… ^_^

So what have I added? A gallery plugin. Right now I’m going through and working on uploading some photos from one gallery to another and then I get to toy around with the coding to see if I can do this right or not.

**[slideshow=3,480,360]**

Oh shit… it worked O_o
Well I guess this could prove to be interesting for me to play with in the near future. Just have to make sure that whatever photos I take are landscape and not portrait… otherwise it crops them weird.

Please note that one of the images is from last night’s Ducks vs. Stars game. The look on the fans in the stands is so worth that photo… one could not ask for a better look of “WTF?!?!?!” than what’s right there.

Ok… I thought I was done for today but this hit me as being VERY fuckin’ odd and a definite WTF-factor of 9.5… My Beautiful Mommy is a children’s book that is being released on Mother’s Day to help explain to kids why mommy is having cosmetic surgery.
Is it just me or is there something seriously wrong with our society when this kind of thing is just part of our society “evolving”?

blah…

Filed under: random crap — Niekon @ 6:12 am

That is how I’m feeling this morning after a rather long and hot weekend of painting and ripping up tile off of the dining room area and kitchen.

What? Ripping up tile? But why? I had noticed when we moved the stove/oven that there was a tile that was ripped… and ripped pretty badly. My intention was to only rip up the kitchen flooring. But in going through and figuring that anything new that we put down would rock compared to the shitty stuff that was in the dining area, so off went those tiles. Only had one really ornery area that required the purchasing of a $20 tool that is meant for lifting tile and whatnot. This thing is a beast and did get off what I needed to. And whatever jackass thought it was intelligent to pour a ton of fuckin’ glue to hold those two tiles in place needs to be shot.
Spent the rest of the day out and about for several hours… had to pick-up the paint for the walls at least and new flooring (along with some other items at Lowe’s)… then off furniture shopping we went. Now that was interesting…

We’re at Living Spaces in La Mirada… after driving around trying to find the fucking place since the Artesia Blvd exit is closed on the northbound 5. And not being familiar with the area we’re driving around trying to find Artesia Blvd now. Find it and found the store.
So we’re wandering through the store… looking at couches and coffee tables. We have a good idea on the coffee table… and have pretty much figured on the couch. Then one of the people on the floor comes up and is asking if there is anything we need help with and whatnot. And somewhere in that conversation she looks at CacheCrash and then at me and says, “and is this your son?”
*blink blink*
“No, that is my brother”
“Well you look alike so I figured he was your son”
I’m trying my damnedest not to explode at this point in time. This woman somehow is not getting the clue to shut her mouth and walk away very quickly lest she continue to insult me even more. I mean seriously… I know I have some gray going, but that much gray to make it look like I’m that much older than Cache is…
I walk away… we need to make the final decision on the coffee table. We decide upon the table we want and know the couch we want. I track down someone else besides this bitch that thought it was smart to insinuate my age… and tell them exactly what I want. I have the item number, price, and description. I’ve done all of the work for them. Piece of cake, right? The guy thought so… always glad to be of service.
So new furniture delivery set for next Saturday which means we have to clean up the area where the current couch is… move that couch to #7 on Saturday morning along with the coffee table and make sure that we are set to go that afternoon for new stuff. ^_^

Sunday comes along… and it’s painting day. Did I fail to mention that Saturday was a scorcher and Sunday was supposed to be more of the same? By 11am I am dripping in sweat but thanks to WrathGlory and Milady we were able to crank through the walls rather quickly. I dealt with the bathroom and kitchen walls while the other two dealt with the walls that took flat paint. WrathGlory ended up kicking me out of the apartment after I finished up the kitchen because apparently I was working myself too hard or something along those lines. Meh… whatever.
But the goal to complete the main walls was done… and that just leaves minor stuff to be done from here on out (with the exception of needing to lay the new flooring). It’s actually looking like an apartment now and not some sort of shithole that no one did anything with for way too long. I regret not getting photos of the place before we started working on it and progression photos during the past couple of weeks. It feels like we’ve been working on that place for the past three or four weekends but in looking at my calendar we’ve only worked on it in the past two weeks. It was around the 1st or 2nd that we went in and saw what we actually had on our plate to deal with. And in those two weeks (mainly on weekends) we have really done a lot. Cache still needs a fridge… and to start turning on the utilities, but that stuff is minor.

And what will happen when we are done with his place? Well… Milady and I were talking and quite possibly after it cools down (later this year) we will begin working on our place… in pieces of course since we have all of that shelving along the walls. I will literally be one wall at a time. The kitchen is the main exception for the most part.

So for now… this week is going to be spent trying to relax as much as possible. I do need to go in and check out how things are looking and if certain areas might need another coat or just a dab here and there. The rest is all on Cache ^_~

In fact… here is the entire schedule:

1 Thursday, April 10 at 7 p.m. Honda Center FSN PRIME TICKET HD
2 Saturday, April 12 at 7 p.m. Honda Center FSN PRIME TICKET HD

6* Sunday, April 20 (Time TBD) American Airlines Center FSN PRIME TICKET
7* Tuesday, April 22 (Time TBD) Honda Center FSN PRIME TICKET
* If necessary

2) painting this weekend is optional from the sounds of it. Cache might have to work on Saturday… and while we could paint the majority of it while he’s at work, we would need to coordinate buying the paint (Autumn Fog) for most of the apartment. That is up to those who are assisting.

3) if you are coming over to watch the games… be warned: the keg is dry right now. I am needing to order up a new one shortly… just a matter of finding the time. And also know that soon after the games are over… I need to sleep. I am running myself ragged as of late and trying to get as much sleep as possible at night now days… :P

4) if you manage to score tickets to the game… congrats. Tell me afterwards… and maybe grab us a program and “fowl towel”. Other than that… I’ll be watching from home. It’s cheaper that way and can ensure that I actually get to sleep at a decent hour prior to my 5am wake-up call.

5) anyone in Florida want to be a driver for a day from WDW to Titusville? I’ll buy the gas… looking to jump at 15,000 feet here
