I’m a dork…

Filed under: random crap — Niekon @ 5:24 am

Niekon is a dork… he dropped his phone mere feet from the ground and apparently it is SO sensitive the damn thing is completely dead now. All of my previous phones have been dropped from higher heights and surved just fine. This thing take a 2 to 2 1/2 foot drop and it’s toast.

So for anyone trying to get hold of my for the next week… you’ll have to do so via AIM, Gmail, Google Talk, or just pester the crap out of Milady ^_~

At some point I’ll get back into the AT&T store to pick up a new one… *head-desk-rinse-repeat*

~~~this has been cross-posted to LiveJournal as well~~~
there will also be more postings upcoming but today is going to be my frantic hell-day…
we’re ready to go for jump…
Filed under: Me!!!,WDW 2008 trip,food reviews,work crap — Niekon @ 1:11 pm
Reservations have been made… four people jumping tandem on 7 November at 10am.
Rental car only thing left at this point in time. I think all of the reservations have been made for everything… dining… transportation to and from the airport… tours…
in other unexciting news…
getting ready for the production run from hell that is going to have all eyes on me for the next few weeks… all for something like around 1.5 million pouches of dip mix. So many procedures and protocols that need to be followed. I’ve got a folder of information that I need to read over this weekend to make sure that everyone is on the same page and that there are no errors when we fire up at some point on Monday morning.
I’m currently burning through the first season of Mad Men… I am enjoying the series thus far… and Milady was kind enough to set up the DVR to record the marathon of Season Two.
Trying to track down the Pushing Daisies first season dvd that was available at Target. Though I do have the entire first season on a hard drive.
and we’ve got some other dvd’s and stuff on the DVR to try and hammer through. Hopefully the heat will not be too mean to us this evening that we can try to get through as much as possible.
and that is all from no man’s land here in #5…
at some point in time I’ll sit down and seriously hammer out some of the recent dining reviews that I have been meaning to get done for folks.
Riddle me this…
Filed under: Anaheim Ducks — Niekon @ 10:18 am
I have two tickets for the Wednesday preseason match-up between the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks. Game is at 7:05pm at the Honda Center…
So this is the open invite… first person to contact me via whatever way (email, text message, IM, phone call) and will be definitely able to attend will be my partner in crime for the evening.
For those who might wonder where the seats are… Section 207, Row R if I remember correctly unless my boss has somehow managed to move up closer. What that basically means is that it’s the lower level near the tunnel for the home team (close to being behind the home team’s bench).
This is only preseason… so you will not see Teemu Selanne… you probably won’t see Mathieu Schneider either. What you will probably see are a lot of players no one has ever heard of before and a lot of players getting into scraps, some serious… some not so serious. These are players fighting to make the final cut before the beginning of the season… or leave just enough of an impression on Coach Carlyle’s mind in the event someone goes out with an injury that they would be called up from Iowa.
So what are you waiting for? Get notifying… :P
Update: Cache has claimed the ticket. Scary Teddy had first dibs but she has homework… :P
Thou shalt keep your website’s information up to date…
Filed under: food reviews — Niekon @ 12:46 pm
or you’ll get a cranky email from me when I show up at your “dining & shopping center” expecting certain locations to be open since your site says they are…
My email sent out this morning:
Good day,
My wife, some friends and I went to Anaheim’s GardenWalk yesterday (21 September)after seeing that some new restaurants had “opened” the previous week. We had our sights set on trying out Bar Louie’s which according to your website stated the location was open. Upon getting to this dining location we were told that they were “soft opening” the bar only at 8pm with no dining at all, while the website states the location was to completely open this past Friday with hours of operation beginning at 11am. Frustrated, we decided to to the upper level to go so San Sai’s instead. Imagine our surprise to see this location too was closed with no signs of life within the location even though you’re site boasted of it opening this past week.
This has become a common occurance… I’ve been curious about Pop the Cork only to see that this location has been closed every time I have gone to GardenWalk.
GardenWalk looks incomplete… feels incomplete… and ultimately is giving out wrong information for those who are visiting your website only to find out upon visiting GardenWalk that certain locations are not open that are reported to be open. Ultimately, my party ended up leaving your location extremely disappointed and hungry. Instead we went to Downdown Disney knowing that there would not be restaurants closed when they should be open. If your goal is to bring in the tourists, it might help to please the locals too as our word of mouth is your cheapest advertising.
Regards,
Niekon
seems they were kind of, uhmm… caught off guard by my email this morning. Not surprising… but it did at least get a response:
Niekon –
I’m so sorry that inaccurate information was communicated to you via our website. We do our best to maintain its accuracy but sometimes due to obstacles out of my control (permits, code issues etc) the dates change and we are not notified in a timely fashion by our tenants. With that said, I appreciate your feedback as this helps me stay on my toes and do a better job communicating with our customers.
Bar Louie will begin full food service on Wednesday. They are having “invite only” practice service today and tomorrow from 11-2 and 5-8 pm. This includes complimentary food. If you would like me to make a reservation for you, please let me know the number in your party and preferred time so you can try out Bar Louie’s food on us. In addition, I would love to provide you with a VIP parking pass for your next visit to Anaheim GardenWalk that will provide you with complimentary parking for the length of your stay.
GardenWalk has been open just over twelve weeks and with each month new stores and aesthetics will be added to complete our look. There will be 50 stores and restaurants open by the end of the year.
Again, my apologies for your disappointment and I hope you will give Anaheim GardenWalk another try in the future and watch us grow.
Please let me know if you would like the reservation at Bar Louie and provide your address if you would like me to mail a VIP parking pass.
Warmest Regards –
K.W.
so not a total loss right? We have a party of five heading over there this evening for this practice service. I’m more interested in the food than anything else… trying to decide if I want to walk in carrying a camera or not ^_~
I will be walking in with a least a print-out of their menu (available on their website) and a notepad. I’ll be at least somewhat nice since we are being allowed into this private “event”.
Speaking of being nice… I know, I need to write up a piece on one my most recent dining experiences on my recent trip. Can I just say, OMG!!!!! Now that’s what BBQ is all about ^_~
Let me tell you… a 5-meat BBQ sampler… killer and a lot of meat.
There’s more too… but I’ll discuss at another time… ^_~
oh come the fuck on!!!
Filed under: random crap — Niekon @ 11:58 am
Disney, you really do hate the movie-going audiences don’t you… you made one successful franchise with Pirates. It was more than just the theme… it was the cast and the director and the scripts that made them awesome movies.
Haunted Mansion? Not so awesome… it was two hours of my life that I can NEVER get back…
The Jungle Cruise? Just kill me now… please… stop. It’s in development… and it should never leave development. Actually the only way to make this an awesome movie would be to NEVER make it.
And now… just announcedTomorrowland!!! With The Rock!!!
Seriously… WFT?!?!?! Does Disney have some sort of long-term contract with Dwayne Johnson? He’s just completed work on Race to Witch Mountain and is set to star in this yet unwritten movie?
Someone stop Disney… please… what’s next? A romantic comedy aboard the Mark Twain?
damn you Blizzard!!!
Yes… Blizzard has finally announced the release date for the next expansion, Wrath of the Lich King
And wouldn’t you know it… it is being released two days prior to my return home from Florida. O_o
PIG FUCKERS!!!
Next up… Amazon.com…
Since I’m not going to be in the area for the release of the game, I wanted to pre-order my Collector’s Edition of the expansion to match my The Burning Crusade Collector’s Edition. And I thought I’d be nice and order one up for Milady too…
Too bad that Amazon is limiting the Collector’s Edition to only one per customer. O_o
At least GameStop.com is allowing two per customer… too bad their freight and handling charges are like $25 per copy of the damn game. At least with Amazon I can get my copy overnighted to me for just $3.99.
so to Amazon.com… YOU FUCKIN’ BLOODY CUNT RAGS!!!
Okay… that’s out of my system now.
Work last week was insanity… one person on vacation all week… one person out sick for three days straight… and one person fired at the beginning of the week. I was covering my desk plus the vacationing person’s desk and still trying to help out in the place of the sick person. Needless to say, my desk looked like crap and is slowly coming back together only for insanity to begin very soon with some upcoming projects.
This week things are starting to get back into a regular rhythm again… which is nice. It’s not all late afternoons/early evenings in the office and coming home a bit before sunset. And this week I have to be diligent with my time since I need to be sure everything is dealt with ASAP on Friday so I can leave here at about 14:30 to head to the airport for a weekend jaunt over yonder.
Camera/laptop backpack being delivered tomorrow… carry-on luggage purchased and needing to be packed… all will be good to go on Thursday evening. Bring everything to work with me… and then head to the airport straight from work. Check-in online… get through the TSA crap… head to the bar for a drink or two… board the plane… and freak out on take-off & landing… find another bar for a couple of pints… find a place to crash out… sleep. Must remember to remove Blizzard Authenticator from the keychain and pack it into the bag in the event I might want to log into the actual WoW game and not the beta this weekend (stop laughing… it could happen!!!)…
Then after that is BlizzCon in mid-October… and a couple of weeks later I’m off to Florida for a couple of weeks… and figuring out how I might make it through airport security wearing a Halloween costume ^_~
I kid!!! I’d never do something so crazy as dress up like Sexy Nurse when I know full well that I’m going to be on a plane all night long heading across the country ^_~
note to self: bring lightsabers into the office… need to put them out on display.
other than that I am leading a VERY boring life right now. I work… come home and veg out watching Scrubs on the DVR and M*A*S*H on TVLand and then sleep.
I can bear-ly contain myself…
Filed under: OMGWTFBBQ,WotLK beta,gaming — Niekon @ 7:35 am
So yesterday was a rather eventful day in the office where one person ended up being sacked for pretty much trying to play the “I want more money or else I’m not going to work” card and lost. Whole lot of drama tied to that disaster yesterday that I’m not really going to get into here.
BUT… for those who attended the OMGWTFBBQ, there was one item that was originally planned and never arrived for one reason or another.
Well, last night I got an email that pretty much had me over the moon when I realized what it was that was now again available. Black bear… ^_^
So later this week I’ll be receiving a nice little 3.5 to 4 pound roast of black bear and a couple pounds of black bear bacon. Most definitely won’t be prepared this weekend… too many things on the schedule to do that, but will have to happen soon. I still have half of a rack of ribs that I need to figure out how to finish off. :P
In one of my last entries I made mention of pre-made characters being made available in the WoW beta… well those pre-mades disappeared within hours and were never heard from again. *cry* So I wasn’t able to get around to more of the different areas this past weekend… not as though it was that easy to do so anyway with the servers going down more often than a hooker at a suck-a-thon…
So Saturday was spent running through a zone that was several levels too high for me and watching the server drop out from under me as I was surrounded by mobs that would kill me in a heartbeat. Somehow I managed to make it through the zone (many thanks to wonky buffs from hell that made me overly powerful to 2-shot a level 76 mob) with only one death at the hands of the Scourge (oops… you mean that 78 Elite isn’t here to give me pie?). No freakin’ flight paths that I could see… but definitely a little “Desolace faction” action going on between the tribal badgers and electrical mutant lizards….
I did end up getting out of that area finally leaving only two areas “undiscovered” so I couldn’t complete that part of the achievements. And went running back to an area that so that I could start kicking ass on my fishing again (I am a fishing god!!!).
So whenever Northrend would go down I’d hope over onto my Blood Elf Death Knight… and went and got here a new hairdo. It was so cute!!! She’s got poofy pigtails now… awwww…
Anyway, I decided to portal back to Ebon Hold (the DK’s main staging area) and there was something going on… the place looked like it was being ransacked by the Scourge. Hmmm… pick-up this little quest here… go kill these Scourge things over yonder… deliver a letter to the head person in certain capital cities. Now this is where the fun comes in… you get ported in front of those capital cities (Stormwind and Ogrimmar) and you can’t cast spells… can’t get on your mount… and have to walk through the city while the city guards and residents hurl insults at you and hurl rotten fruit. Deliver some letter to the leader of that city and all is right in the world once again.
It was definitely one of the more interesting parts I’ve seen Blizzard do in this game and I loved it. I had to hop onto my Dranei DK to run that part of the quest for her too. Absolutely amazing story-driven quests… it definitely brings the DK’s into the fold in a more interesting and better-told way than *poof* “you’re Alliance/Horde!!!”
So with the beta servers wreaking havoc with my nerves… Sunday came along and sitting on my desktop around 10am PT was a notice from the EA Download Manager… Spore was ready to decrypt and install. Woohoo!!!!
Installed and have created a civilization of flying moose/bat/cow/??? creatures. So yeah… Spore is the current flavor of the week until Blizzard can stabilize the damn beta servers.
that is all for now… I’m off to cover two desks this week and assist on a third. Call me crazy (You’re Crazy!!!!!) but I hate to see others have to suffer the long hours too…
Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue…
Filed under: work crap — Niekon @ 1:33 pm
So one of my clients is the chief importer of Murphy’s Stout into the US… and I’ll leave it at that. We had a project this week where we were having to inkjet something onto the cans for them. Thirty pallets of Murphy’s… ninety trays per pallet… six four-packs per tray.
Well the project is completed… and you would not believe the number of “rejects” I have on hand. These are cans of product that are dented or simply have a damaged tray or no trays at all… 2,938 cans of Murphy’s that I will probably have to dispose of here… and have to document the “disposal process”. *cry*
Well I already have photos of the rejected pallets of product… now just awaiting word from the client on what they wish for us to do now.
and yes… there will be photos later… first dinner… then some Bristol Palin pr0n (hold up… is that legal? no? scrub that then…)… then some Sarah Palin pr0n… then maybe transfer the photos from the CF to the laptop…
