this gives a whole new meaning to “wanna play Wii?”

oh… did I forget to mention it’s not exactly safe for work? Yeah… opps…

*yawn* can I go back to bed now?

So we went to see Wicked on Friday night… thanks to Scary Teddy… and also included with the tickets was to partake in the Behind the Emerald Curtain tour. The tour started at 6pm… the play at 8pm. Scary Teddy and Milady picked me up from work at 4pm. The math is simple… and even with traffic, we should be able to make it to the Pantages before 6pm, right? Yeah… didn’t quite work out that well. We arrived about 10-15 minutes late, but have no fear… the tour that we thought was truly “behind the emerald curtain” was more of some understudies telling a group of folks some stuff and showing off the costumes… in the lobby of the theater. It was interesting, but not that interesting.
So now we are in our seats for the musical… Act I lasted just about 90 minutes. I’m dying in my seat having mini-coughing fits… and trying to not annoy the folks around me too much. Fifteen minute intermission… and then Act II lasted maybe an hour?
Show ended… standing ovations… and then the actress playing Glinda asked the audience to be seated and then went into a speel that that night was the Broadway Cares donation drive… or something to that effect. In the end I ended up picking up a signed Wicked poster of the entire LA cast for $100.
Thoughts on the musical? I enjoy the music… and having read the book before seeing the musical I have to say that I was rather disappointed. There were some rather big changes to the storyline… and the “Disney-fication” at the end was highly bothersome. Don’t get me wrong… it was a good musical, but not the huge cum-fest that people seem to make it out to be.

Weekend was not long enough… I am still trying to get myself together from the two-week vacation and having a difficult time with that still. Body just doesn’t want to kick into gear. And I am seriously doubting that a four-day weekend is going to help much either.

Speaking of weekends… let’s play a little game. Imagine, if you will, you are going to be putting up a Christmas tree. There are several steps one must undertake in order to make sure everything goes smoothly, correct? Let’s go through them together, shall we?
Clear up area where the tree will be going… check
Rearrange furniture if needed… check
Vacuum area very well… check
Get tree out of garage… check
Get ornaments out of garage… check
Set up tree… check
Wrap tree in lights… uhmm… where the fuck are the lights? Oh!!! It seems I tossed them all at the end of last year since there were mixed strings on the tree and several dead bulbs that weren’t easily swapped out between the various strings of lights. Just forgot to leave ourselves a note about that. So off we went to procure more lights… five strings of lights… one thousand lights in total… the Thousand Points of Light (kids, ask your parents… or look it up on Wikipedia)…

Let’s try this again…
Wrap tree in lights… check
Hang ornaments… uhmm… I think (hope) Milady is doing that today. I’d love to get all of those boxes out of the place… it’s crowded enough as is without those in there.
Start stashing presents underneath the tree… only after ornaments are done

What else is on the checklist for this week? Oh yes… the annual holiday cards… let’s go over that checklist…
Cards chosen… check
Holiday greeting language chosen… check
Cards filled out and signed… check
Envelopes addressed… check
Cards in envelopes… check
Envelopes sealed… check
Envelopes sorted by location for mailing… check
First batch in the mailbox today… that’s up to Milady today to deal with

And yes… the Turkey Day meal in my place will be Black Bear Roast. Nothing says “fuck the turkey” like a five pound chunk of black bear meat. I don’t totally recall Milady’s schedule that day… but I am safe to presume it’s another miserable long night at the Mouse Trap.

And no… there will not be the annual holiday gathering this year. Just not feeling it this year… just kind of just blah… and barely there. No idea how many of the gifts we have bought will get to various people… but that’s not important right now. Right now it’s just a matter of getting through the next week or so and trying to recuperate.

and last but not least… for those of you Wii-folks out there that just happened to be gluttons for punishment (like I am) and bought Animal Crossing: City Folk recently… and are looking for peaches my place is available if you let me know so I can open my gates.

back to the ol’ grindstone…

Back in the office after that lovely two week vacation… wish it could have been longer though. ^_~

Not a whole lot of stuff going on in life right now. Work is work… just slower than usual. I have some projects upcoming but for now I’m kind of sitting around just awaiting little things to be starting up.
Managed to pick up Wall-E yesterday evening on my way home… and I broke down… I bought Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Wii along with the Wii Speak. Still considering whether or not I want to get Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip… it uses the Balance Board which is cool… just unsure of how sensitive/responsive it might be. If it’s too insane, apparently you can just with the Wii Remote and nunchuk to play.

Still haven’t delved too far into Wrath of the Lich King… wanting others to get up a few levels before I take on Northrend myself. This will allow me to find my mobs easier than having to fight for them amongst several dozen folks at once. It’s part of what I liked about the beta… I wasn’t having to deal with so many other people in the same area all trying to get the same mobs/quest items.
I do have my Death Knight rolled though and started her on her quests… we’ll see how much loving I give her in the coming weeks.

And of course… it’s coming up… the holiday season. *sigh* Just back from a vacation and we’re trying to now figure out how to clear out a huge section of the front room in order to make room for a huge tree. The new couch seems to be a wee bit longer and not as easy to move things around. Think we’re going to be moving some furniture around this weekend too. *cry* Must get tree up prior to Thanksgiving.
Speaking of prior to Thanksgiving… last I heard was that Milady had most if not all of the holiday cards set and ready to go. No clue if she needed stamps or not… apparently she thinks we’re okay with what I had bought prior to the trip.
And no… I am not planning on anything special for Turkey Day this year. Milady is working… and I’ll probably spend my day doing what I do best… as little as possible. I might cook up that bear roast though. That’s kind of appropriate, isn’t it? Slather it in the wagyu bacon… and let the fatty goodness of the bacon seep into the meat… mmmm…

And that’s about it… life is back to it’s boring ol’ self once again. Still needing to go through all of the photos from the trip and categorize them properly and tag them with the appropriate comments. Make sure signs are matched up with their foods… et cetera. And of course write up about all of the food we didn’t write about… particularly the various paid events from the Food & Wine Fesitval as well as our rather awesome meal at Victoria & Albert’s (where I saw neither Victoria nor Albert… so disappointing).
