So an interesting discussion was raised this morning amongst a co-worker and I in regards to a certain “social networking” site in which we are both a part of… it seems one of the folks here wished to friend her and we were both kind of curious as to why and what type of damage this could have if folks delved further into things.

For instance… take me as an example.
The only way that you can search for me on this particular site is to already be my friend. Folks who are not my friend will never find me by simply typing in my name… you could possibly find me if you are the friend of a friend and check their friends listing but even then, the amount of info that should be seen is minimal. I am pretty damn strict in regards to revealing who I am too much. Sure, I’m a rather crude and sexist bastard on here but this is read by how many people? A handful or so? And that is taking into consideration that Mr. Happy is one of the readers as well… he does like to come out for a gander through the site every so often… never know what I post in there (see previous entry).
And yet I have seen folks who toss out their personal lives online like it’s no big deal. Publishing all sorts of information in journals… on these networking sites… where ever. A great example of this is as follows:
Last weekend Milady and I attended a wedding for her cousin that included a Chinese banquet… mmm… sharks fin soup!!! So as we near the end of the banquet there is talk of Facebook and if we are on there… I state I am but I am next to impossible to find. So instead I decide to put my theory to a little test… I go digging into one of my friends’ friend listing and start poking in pretty far. I managed to find the bride and the groom as well as most of the family within a few levels of poking around.
Another test pokes me into a relatives friend listing to find a brother who in turn listed out the daughter of my godparents.

Any of them added? Not yet… but I’m sure one of them will read this and start cussing me out shortly ^_~

So I leave this post with a question for you all… and I am curious to know your thoughts on this…
Do you completely bury your information and searchability? Do you flash a bit of skin but enough to let folks know you’re there? Or do you fling the coat open for all to see everything? No matter your answer to the previous… why?

are the holidays over with yet? No? Damn it… hurry the fuck up already and let’s get to January.

Flashback of the last week and then looking forward the next few weeks…

After the last actual posting that had anything doing with my life… not a whole lot was has been going on. Spent the long holiday weekend trying to accomplish as little as possible.
Thursday: DVR and DVD marathon… and the cooking of 5lbs of black bear. Bear turned out decently… but was definitely gamey. CacheCrash went wild for it… no pun intended.
If I do try to cook bear again, I will try to find a way to cut the gaminess as much as possible.

Friday: Spiderman marathon… missed the Ducks game but had it on the laptop so I could be kept up to date on the score.

Saturday: WoW marathon… hammered through two levels working on clearing out most of the quests within one of the two Northrend starting areas.

Sunday: laundry… and more WoW marathon. Finished up all of the non-instance quests in Borean Tundra before moving over to Howling Fjord to start that batch of quests and work my way up to 73…
Ended in the early evening to rest and relax and allow my character to rest as well.

Monday: back at work… and zzzzzzzzzzzz…
ScaryTeddy came over for a visit… and was feeling blah on my couch.

Tuesday: more work stuff… and zzzzzzzz…

Wednesday: still more work stuff but getting frustrated with work… oh yeah, and zzzzzzzzzzzz…
Left work a bit earlier than usual (4:15) to get home for the 5:30 game… WrathGlory showed up… game was a letdown.

Thursday: that’s today… and nothing really planned right now. Clients are getting their projects run… and product shipped out. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz….

Upcoming: if I recall, I am joining Milady on Monday or Tuesday evening for the annual holiday cast member party. After that… nothing is on the itinerary. Milady is working on the 25th… and I’m working the 26th… gotta love the idiotic mentality of this company at times. Then again, at least I have the 1st off even though I have to go back on the 2nd… Cache is apparently working on the 1st O_O

No… there is not going to be a holiday gathering put on by me this year… was not in the cooking mood this year to organize something. I am hearing rumors of possibly a small affair taking place… but at this point in time it’s just an idea with nothing beyond that.

My goals for this month are to be as boring as possible… and to work on inching my WoW character up to 80 and then moving other characters in that direction as well. Would love to have an 80 Death Knight ^_~
But I know myself too well… I’m going to be more interested in getting as many of the achievements completed as possible… I’m an achievements whore…

and because I just HAVE to end with a note of classiness…
