it’s just going to be known as one of those months…

You ever get the feeling that no matter how many good times you have in a certain period of time, they will always be outshined by the horrible times? That is my month currently…

Last month I placed an order for the latest series of World of Warcraft figures through an online store that Cache and I have both dealt with before. It seems that there was an update to their software since the last time we had ordered… in fact it had just gone up a week or so prior to placing my order. It seemed that there was a dormant payment gateway port that was tested during construction of the new site but never put into use… thus it was left wide open for some asshole to sneak in and grab the information of whomever.
Guess who’s information got compromised? Initially I got a letter from my bank informing me that they had been alerted to this compromise followed about a week and a half later by an email from the owner of the comic book store that was involved. The email was quite detailed and apologetic… and I can’t fault them totally for it.

Last week got my new card… but didn’t activate it until I got my new PIN which was this past Monday which I did upon arriving home from work. Then I noticed that the expiration on my new card was just a week away. Immediately drop a message to the bank informing them of this… and also call them in the morning. I was concerned because I have stuff on pre-order that I need to change the card number for before it ships. Seems I wasn’t the only person that this happened to and I should be seeing my new card hopefully before the end of the month.
Yesterday I start to notice weird little transactions on my account that should not be there at all… and I immediately notify the bank and I got a cardholder affidavit that I have to fill out. This morning… find a couple more small transactions so again I was on the phone with the bank and getting more paperwork. I’m guessing this will be happening for a few more days so I can be expecting to be calling a few more times since I was told there were some pending transactions (we even went through them over the phone but they can’t do anything until it clears on my account).

For now… I’m looking at the places that have my money now. And all of them are rather small and would not be noticed if I weren’t looking closely. Then I’d be trying to figure out why I was suddenly short somewhere.
I found out three of the four transactions thus far. It’s the fourth one that is causing me some trouble as I can’t figure out the name nor the phone number as it left off a digit on my online statement. All I know is that they are out of Clearwater, FL.

The only good news I have right now? My fridge is coming this Saturday… and the Ducks have won five straight games to move into the #7 slot in the Western Conference. Damn that was an embarrassing game for Colorado last night…

and an almost complete reversal of last week’s post…

1) new keg delivered on Saturday morning… yeah!!!!! I can drink again… something more than a bottle of wine and Crystal Light (not mixed of course).

2) my new fridge will be delivered to me this coming Saturday. I went into Lowe’s on Saturday to deal with this crap. Needless to say I walked out of there with a VERY similar fridge just it’s more expensive because of the water dispenser build into the inside of the fridge wall. Same price as the original because they could not guarantee me the proper fridge on a certain date. Hell, they couldn’t even commit to me getting the exact fridge I wanted in a timely manner… and their MOD was a complete ass. At least the other folks in that department were being cool… but this one guy thought he was all that and a bag of chips. I think he ate too many chips…
Fuck him… I’m getting my fridge one way or another and I have learned my lesson. Cache might have an easy experience with them, but after my incident they can die in a fiery crash… especially that particular MOD.

3) got our D23 membership cards this past Friday… woohoo!!! I still have no idea what it’s all about but whatever. We said we’d give it a try on the first year. Still expecting the rest of the packet and some sort of gift too at some point.

4) The Ducks are winning… I think someone told them that the season had actually finally begun. It’s going to be a killer next couple of weeks for me as I’m watching other teams to see if we might be able to squeak into a playoff spot or not. It’ll suck to not make the playoffs but at the same time I don’t see Anaheim advancing very far even if they did make it. Their performance over the past season has been sub-par for the most part. Sure… there are some great moments but they were too few.
Next game is tomorrow in Nashville followed the next day with a game in Colorado. Keep those fingers and toes crossed…

I declare this week officially a wash…

*there is an edit to this post with additional reading*

In the immortal words of Chef Ramsey… “shut it the fuck down now!!!”

1) keg tapped out on Sunday evening so I called the keg place Monday morning to see about a delivery that afternoon. They called back six hours later near time for them to close up for the day. Nice customer service there. So new keg is now to be delivered on Saturday… that’s five days of no alcohol since I refuse to fill up my fridge with cans and/or bottles. Should be fun and exciting to be around me…

2) seems I’m not getting my new fridge this weekend now. Apparently the guy fucked up when he entered it into the system and marked the color as “white” not “stainless steel”. And guess which color they were out of? Now the current expectation is maybe on the 28th for delivery. Needless to say I’m less than thrilled with the current experience.
“The Aliso Viejo store has it in stock”… great, get it from them and deliver it to me at the time I designated. You now have my money… and I am to be inconvenienced because someone entered the wrong part number? I set aside time from my weekend to accept the delivery. Now I have to adjust for another weekend? Fuck you…

3) when you are at work and you set up work orders/production orders in a certain manner you expect them to be followed, right? Well, what happens when someone who’s last name is similar to that of the owner goes and makes changes? You no longer have the authority of that project. And what happens when someone else with the same last name starts questioning you about why certain things are being done that are not on the work order? Then you’re caught in quite a spot. Welcome to every bloody day here at work. Seriously, I cannot avoid getting annoyed and aggravated because someone who is supposed to be a “salesperson” is stepping in and taking over my accounts. How am I supposed to do my job when someone is stepping over me and not discussing with me first so that I can issue the changes? And when something does end up go wrong who is to blame? Me of course because I’m the Project Manager… never mind that changes were made without my knowledge.
If it weren’t such a crappy time to be trying to find a job I’d be gone… seriously. I’m getting sick of this crap.

4) while at Disneyland this past weekend we stopped by Disneyana to see what was interesting and whatnot. And while we were there we were looking at the D23 charter membership certificate frames. But you have to have your D23 membership card in order to buy it… slight problem… this just launched this past week. They have not had time to send out the membership cards. So how are you supposed to show that you are a member? Apparently they expect you to have a printout of the transaction if you did it online.
Disney… one of the premier tourist destination does not have the technology to input a name into a database to pull up whether or not you are a D23 member or not. Complete clusterfuckery… this CM I was dealing with just expected me to be able to produce my payment receipt on the spot. I saw nothing on the site that stipulated I had to bring it in to show proof of membership.
Here’s an idea… it might be a bit slower but it’s forward thinking. At midnight the night before the event consider that the cutoff for new memberships that don’t need to show “proof of receipt”. Print out the list of members and match it against state issued ID’s. Yes… it’s going to be long but guess what? The alphabet works for a reason. Anyone who joins after midnight will have a message pop up stating that in order to show proof at the time of the event, they will need to provide a printed out copy of their payment receipt.
Customer service as it should be…

today is going to a lot of nothing hopefully… did the corned beef and cabbage thing on Sunday already. And no Guinness to enjoy it with… so no need to celebrate tonight.

Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take ya

Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama…

confused yet? You know the lyrics… and now the song is stuck in your head and your calling me every name in the book and probably just invented a couple too.
After a lot of consideration and whatnot doing two week in Germany next year for the IIHF tournament… it’s just too expensive taking everything into consideration. Not to say we won’t hit up the country at some point in the future… just not for hockey.
Instead we are booked on a 7-night cruise aboard the Disney Magic with stops in St. Croix… St. Thomas (don’t really care about that one except maybe eating at Blackbeard’s Castle)… and Castaway Cay. We don’t leave until early November, but we are still trying to make sure that we plan accordingly.

And yes… I know it’s a Disney cruise. We’ve talked about it for quite a while and things just seem to have fallen into place accordingly this week so there we go.

Tomorrow is Disneyland Resort day… heading into the park(s) for the day since it’s been quite a while that we’ve been in there during the day. Who knows… maybe we’ll survive long enough for the fireworks. Bwahahahahahahaha!!!!!!

Sunday is order new fridge day and probably playing WoW… *shock*

And the answer is no… there are no plans this year for doing anything for the 17th. The way that the several past few weeks have gone I’ve been leaving work after pulling an eleven+ hour shift and I do not want to go home to prepare a corned beef brisket that is going to take several hours… time that I’d rather spend relaxing and preparing to eventually go to sleep.

that about wraps up things on this end for now. In the coming week I’m going to sit down and go over the Trade Deadline swaps that Anaheim took and after the initial shock of losing some players that I didn’t want to see go… and look at what Anaheim has to do to move forward.

a whole lot of everything… and a lot of nothing too

Filed under: Anaheim Ducks,Hockey,World of Warcraft,random crap,work crap — Niekon @ 1:19 pm

Let’s begin with some hockey stuff… today is Trade Deadline Day… until noon PST. Anaheim is currently sitting in 9th place in the Western Conference… just one game away from hoping into that 7th or 8th place slot and back in the playoff picture. But with today being TDT, there are some interesting things happening… and have been happening over the past couple of weeks.
Chris Kunitz got traded to the Penguins for Ryan Whitney last week… Kunitz was pissed. He immediately text messaged Andy McDonald about the trade. BTW: Andy was just as pissed when Burke traded him to St. Louis last year. It seems that Burke got what he wanted (the Cup) and he managed to screw up the team enough prior to his leaving for Toronoto and the current GM isn’t sure what to do. The way the team is playing it’s like they don’t know what to do either… they are slipping back into the Disney-owned days of suck.

Yesterday, Brendan Morrison was placed on waivers… and got picked up by the Stars this morning

A trade with Boston just went down as I was typing this up at 9:41am… Defenseman Steve Montador to Boston for Foward Petteri Nokalainen. Not sure what to think of this one… sure, it’s another Finnish player to play along with Selanne but the issue is that Nokialainen has only played 33 games this season and only has 3 points. He’s spent most of the past few months out of the line-up for one reason or another (typically an injury or “undisclosed” reasons). Sure he’s young but if you are a forward you better be putting up more than 3 points in 33 games. And looking back he’s very injury-prone.
We lose Montador… a guy who will go toe-to-toe with anyone for some injury-prone Fin? FUCK!!!!! Goodbye playoffs…

Sami Pahlsson gone to Chicago for what? A defenseman… but apparently not too bad on the 2nd line. We shall see with him…

Travis Moen and Kent Huskins to San Jose for what? Fuckin’ prospects and a conditional draft pick? Fuck the conditional… unconditional you bastards…

Anaheim fans… say goodbye to any chance of making the playoffs this season. We have managed to wipe out any chance we had in a matter of six hours today. Thank you Anaheim Ducks management… you’ve managed to piss off a lot of fans out there by getting rid of players that were loyal to your organization and the fans were loyal too. Who do you think you are? Burke dealing McDonald away and not even having the balls to tell him to his face but rather by cellphone? Fuck you…
(will updates as things happen)

WoW-time now…
Had some fun this past weekend even though we were also getting frustrated in some areas. Ended up doing a Molten Core run initially with 4 people and ended up being a total of 7 people as things progressed along.
Next I think we are looking at Zul’Gurub next… and possibly attacking Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj and then finishing up with Blackwing Lair and Temple of Ahn’Qiraj.
So MC is a 40-man that took 7 players… Onyxia is a 40-man that took 3 players (4 if you want it to be faster)… ZG should be a cake-walk as it’s a 20-man.
The object is to complete the Vanilla WoW stuff and then move on to Outlands… and then whatever…

In other WoW news I’ve rolled a couple of characters across different servers… and am slowly leveling those up when I have time. Not going to reveal all of the servers I’m on… makes it more interesting that way… there is another druid in the works though.

Work has been the same ol’ thing as of late. Certain clients being overly stressful for no other reason than they can be. Seriously people… putting more stress on me does not make the product run faster. We had cutbacks on our staff… so guess what? You need to take a number and get in line with everyone else… I don’t care who you are or who you think you are… first come, first served.
And for some reason they seem to think that they are the only client I have and I must cater to their every whim immediately. Uhmm… no… I have at least half a dozen active clients at any given time… sometimes I’m bouncing between over a dozen at once.

So the fridge in my place has been around for a LONG time… it used to belong to my parents who then passed it along to me when I moved to Anaheim. I recall that fridge from the old days of growing up… I think it existed prior to the move from Hormel to Halaga… but I could be wrong.
Anyway… last weekend I went out and looked at new fridges and priced them out and came away with the best option for us. So hopefully in the next couple of weeks I’ll have a new fridge at home ^_^
