I’m a quitter: Day 20 – 29

still going… it’s the dead times in the evening that are killing me for the most part but I’m surviving just fine thus far. No one has died…

How I’ve been spending my time over the past week-plus…
World of Warcraft…
watching the Ducks vs Sharks series…
going to unofficial Ducks watch parties…
joining a gym…
catching up on my Netflix movies…
catching up on the many many hours on the DVR…
reading (now have a couple of books going at the same time)…

and of course there is work and the new project I’ve been tasked to handle… re-writing our GMP manual to bring it up to a certain standard that would get us compliant for several different certifications. Already it’s undergoing a huge change… we’ll see if I can manage these changes to be enforced company-wide. If I don’t get the support from the top then this is just mindless work for me that means nothing beyond the ink that’s printed on the paper.

So that is all for now… now, no liking the snouts of pigs… you might get swine flu. I’d prefer you to get the new strain that is called the Duck Flu… especially with 4pm PT game starts tomorrow O_o

We’re all going to DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ZOMG!!!! Swine H4XX0R!!!!!!!!!
This is enjoyable right now because I get to watch the stupidity of people, in particular certain individuals within my own workplace, of fueling the paranoia. Two days in a row we have received hand outs fueling the panic followed by the words “but don’t panic”…
What in the hell is this? The beginning of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?

I’m a quitter: Day 14 – 19 and some other stuff

Filed under: Anaheim Ducks, random crap — Niekon @ 6:33 am

almost three weeks and I think I’m doing well. Still can’t handle being around other smokers… that will hopefully go away. And the thing is that I think it’s people who are smoking regular cigarettes… I found out that I didn’t have an issue with someone smoking clove cigarettes and depending on the cigar (I’ve always been picky about that one) I can handle it. Unsure about pipe smoke either…
But we’re doing good… once in a while I think about it but not as much anymore.

Still trying to keep out of trouble though… idle hands make for dangerous situations… like wanting to just go up to the corner and buy a pack for old times sake.

For those who didn’t know, I spent most of the past weekend in the Dallas-Fort Worth area… more Fort Worth than Dallas though. A lot of good eating and lots of drinking. If there was ever a time that I chose to stop drinking Guinness… it would have to converted over to Rahr Brewery‘s Ugly Pug Black Lager. I didn’t get a chance to try the Iron Thistle… and we weren’t going to go to The Flying Saucer just to try it. :P
But in the coming week I’ll be posting up food stuff over on the default DistinctWorlds site…

LET’S GO DUCKS!!!!!
LET’S GO DUCKS!!!!!
LET’S GO DUCKS!!!!!

Two down… two more wins to go to advance to the Western Conference Semifinals. San Jose looked like they had Anaheim figured out last night but then Anaheim just kept playing the game that they are best known for playing. Granted, there were a lot of penalties against Anaheim… and a lot of non-calls against San Jose but in the end it’s the score that matters the most to me.
Game 3 is here in Anaheim on Tuesday… and since I know there aren’t going to be any watch parties (do they have them even when playing at home?) I’ll be watching from home.

I’m a quitter: Day 11 – 13

Filed under: random crap — Niekon @ 1:17 pm

See… I’m just going to keep doing this… almost to the two week mark and holding up I guess. It makes me queasy to be around people who were smoking or are smoking. It’s really bad on the bus to smell people who are reeking of cigarette smoke. Anyway… here’s a quick rundown of the past few days:

Day 11: morning was spent picking up CacheCrash from the auto repair shop and then going to breakfast at Hoff’s Hut. Crappiest breakfast I’ve had in a long time. Then off to The Block for a bit and then headed home to play games and whatnot.
Milady got off of work… we were watching part of the Ducks vs Coyotes game and getting prepared for dinner at Yamabuki’s. Dinner was delicious… I had the Dragon Thermador. And of course HAD to have a bottle of plum wine. Based upon the final receipt, there was a modification that seems to have knocked that bottle off the total. I’m not complaining. ^_^
Also got a copy of the regular menu and child’s menu… then headed up to DtD to walk around a bit. That walking basically entailed making it up to the bookstore… spending about $100 and then heading back to the car. In all I think the entire group enjoyed dinner. They can each comment on their individual meals in the comments if they want to.

Day 12: Rejoice, for He has made it rabbit hunting day!!!
I jest… but somewhere there are a lot of pissed off non-religious individuals and/or tourists who wanted to Target only to discover the bastards were closed for Easter Sunday. Okay… it seems that being within the Tourist Central isn’t enough of an incentive to be open. There are still people who need to run errands and whatnot. Fuckin’ idiots…
So instead we decide to go grab some dim sum and then head to the mall for some stuff. Dim sum delicious and not as frantic with only three people… much more relaxing. And then off to the mall… wait… what is this? Why is the parking lot empty? Where in the hell are all the cars? Are you telling me that the mall is closed as well? Are you kidding me? Is nothing open today?
It turns out yes… there were some places open on Easter Sunday: Home Depot… fast food restaurants… most sit-down restaurants… most exercise/yoga places… non-Christian stores… et cetera. No idea if there was a Wal*Mart open or not but I wasn’t going to soil my boots by even going near place.
Managed to find what we needed at Walgreens… of which there are like a dozen pharmacies to every one full-size Walgreens in SoCal it seems. Nothing on their site makes mention whether or not they are full-sized or just pharmacies.
Came home… dealt with my hair… and then called it a night after ordering take-out for Buca di Beppo.

Day 13: work… work… work…
Came home and played WoW for several hours until it was decided we should get some sleep.

and that pretty much covers it… Thursday begins the first of what we all hope to be many games in what is expected to be one of the most exciting series of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Friday has me heading out to Dallas-Fort Worth for a bit over 36 hours to visit with a friend who apparently in need of hugs or some shit. I prefer noogies… but if that’s what she wants then hugs it is… just no crying… I don’t handle the crying thing too well. And I get back in time to see Game 2 of the series.

I’m a quitter: Day 8 – 10

Filed under: Anaheim Ducks,Hockey, gaming, random crap — Niekon @ 10:39 am

Yes… I know it’s been a few days since my last update but I didn’t feel that it necessary to update every day anymore since I tend to just talk about work and what I did for a few hours after work before going to bed. So instead I’m updating a few days at a time…

Day 8: worked… came home… followed various hockey games around the league that would have had an impact on Anaheim’s playoff hopes. Nothing overly exciting… but was playing more Guild Wars as well…

Day 9: worked… came home… watched a couple Netflix movies… played Guild Wars… followed various hockey games around the league…

Day 10: worked… came home… had a pint… went to the hockey game… drank more Guinness while there. Game went to OT… then to the shoot out where we won the game and ultimately clinched our playoff berth. And of course had to get one more beer over at the JD Club. Fun to be had by all that night. Came home… had another pint… went to sleep. I think it was counted that I had something like nine pints over a course of 4-5 hours.

I’m a quitter: Day 7

Filed under: random crap — Niekon @ 2:46 pm

Yes… it’s been one week and thus far I’m not totally caving in. I’m not going insane. I’m not threatening to kill anyone.
I am more exhausted than before… but I think part of has to do with the caffeine intake being reduced to zero and not the non-smoking part.

Spent the day working and then came home to WrathGlory being at my place already to pick up the stuff for donating. Somehow we managed to get it all to fit in her car. Seriously… we had a lot of crap that was being donated. And about the equivalent of crap that was just trash and got tossed out accordingly.
Milady was watching the John Adams dvd set that I had bought for her a while ago… and we ended up finishing out the series for the evening and popped in one of the Netflix movies that she had chosen to add to the queue (it was so horribly bad that I can’t even bring myself to mention it’s title)… and then closed out the night by watching the previous night’s episode of House since cnn.com had managed to fuck it up for me already earlier in the day.

And that was my Day 7 of quitting… one of the most boring days on record.
