Pure laziness… I swear… ^_~
For those of you who aren’t aware, this was posted up last week on the anniversary of WDW’s Magic Kingdom using a format known as tilt-shift photography. Maybe one of my photo buff friends or family members can clue folks in on how this process is done.
disregard request for how it’s done… I looked it up along with prices for the lenses and just about fell out of my chair. That lens is about what I paid for my laptop… O_o

this past Friday I went in for my MRI. That experience was not something I look forward to participating in again… I can see where claustrophobic people go crazy in them. The check-in was just off of the main lobby of the hospital and once I went through all of that check-in crap I was instructed to go down this one long hallway, turn left down another long hallway, turn right and go outside and follow this path to some other building.
Yeah… that was fun O_o
Empty my pockets of all metal… remove piercings and rings… hop on the slab and insert earplugs. Twenty minutes later and I was on my way home again.
**flash forward to Monday**
I go into work in the morning for a couple of hours to deal with some paperwork before heading off to another appointment as a follow-up for the treatment I’ve been under for the past five weeks. Nothing exciting… no good results from the meds. And what do I see before my eyes? The scans from the MRI. It was rather surreal to see my spin there.
Sure enough… right at the L5 was a bulge on the right side of the disc. Regular means have not helped to solve the problem and given that I’ve been like this for 2-3 months now it was decided that I can take one of two roads at this time: a non-invasive procedure that requires an injection into that area (an epidural) or an invasive procedure that would be scraping of the spine.
Anyone care to take a guess at which I chose first? *ding ding ding* We have a winner… I went for the injection into my spine. The lesser of two evils as one would say. So the referral has been submitted and I should be getting a call in a couple of days to schedule the epidural in the next week or so. One way or another, I am going to get fixed. I’m just hoping that this only has to go as far as this. And I know that everyone else would love for me to get better because I’m a pain in the ass when I’m not comfortable. ^_~

1) I know that I owe folks Part II of the Convergence weekend… it will be worked on. Just trying to play catch-up with work and not get too far behind on other stuff.
2) Will post updates on pretty much the past month of two… what was the last thing that I mentioned about my back issue?
3) will post up links to photos and a rundown on the 40th Anniversary Haunted Mansion event along with my thoughts and opinions. Maybe you can all convince Milady to chime in too ^_~
4) will post up links to photos and a rundown on the first D23 Expo that was held this past weekend at the Anaheim Convention Center. Some good… some bad… definitely can see room for improvement in several areas.
5) I don’t think we had many… but there are photos from BlizzCon 2009 and thoughts and opinions on this year’s event compared to the previous years.
But just letting folks know that I am alive… and I have not forgotten about this place.
For now though… just filtering through all of this paperwork and figuring out what I’m going to be doing this coming weekend as Milady will be up north with family for the weekend.

I know folks are still waiting for Part 2 of Convergence to go up… I’m getting to it.
For those out of those who have been out of the loop for the past month, I’ve spent the past two weeks out of work on medical leave because of a pinched sciatic nerve in my back that has been causing me issues for a while and finally got to the point that I broke down and went to see a doctor about it… apparently way after I should have because I allowed things to progress to the point that I’m now on my third different treatment. I’ve got enough medications floating around my place right now to make a Michael Jackson cocktail… only thing I seem to be missing is the Propofol ^_~
Seriously, I’ve got the following: Vicodin, Flexeril, Naprosyne, Percocet, Meloxicam, and Nortriptyline… of that list, one of them is listed as a Schedule II drug and was kept in a safe at the pharmacy when I went to get my prescription filled. I’m on the good stuff… too bad I’m still in a lot of pain even when taking it. O_o
Amongst all of this fun-filled excitement I also attended this past weekend Blizzard’s what seems to be becoming annual convention, BlizzCon 2009 with Milady, CacheCrash, and ScaryTeddy…
For those interested in seeing photos from there can hit up my photo gallery at http://picasaweb.google.com/mandrakegeek (there are also photos from Convergence there)…
And that is it for now… still in a lot of pain… back at work… and preparing for the upcoming Haunted Mansion event that is sure to break me physically and financially…

Oh yeah… between work and trying to get ready for Convergence it was definitely an interesting past couple of weeks.
Convergence was last weekend on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA. For those who aren’t sure what Convergence is… it’s an annual convention of goths from around the globe. This year it was close enough that we would attend… and next year it’s in Park City, UT. Still trying to figure out if we might attend that one or not.
Anyway, Milady and I got to the QM on Thursday evening… got checked in and changed for dinner at Sir Winston’s. Only problem with our room was that I had requested a queen-sized bed… we got a full. No way two people are going to sleep on that thing all weekend. So on our way to dinner we stopped by the main desk to discuss… it was an error at check-in and that we would need to get our luggage, after dinner would be fine.
Off to dinner… the main reason we chose Sir Winston’s over Chelsea’s was a certain item on the menu… foie gras. It was a must-have for us since it’s rather infrequent to see it on menu’s anymore. Milady got the Foie Gras appetizer along with a Spinach Salad. I got the Brie En Croute along with a French Onion Soup Au
Gratin. According to Milady both of her items were delicious… I can attest to the fois gras being quite good. My en croute kind of surprised me as I’ve made a similar style dish on a larger scale where the apples are made into a compote instead of still having a crunch to them. And the phyllo wraps were meh… maybe I was just being picky. I enjoyed the soup though… and was surprised to find the bread that is typically on the side or partially submerged in the soup to be completely covered by the cheese. Managed to get through most of it before calling it quits to be ready for my entree… ^_^
For our entrees… Milady chose the Roast Duck Magret and I chose the Seared Asian Ahi. Both dishes were quite good… I didn’t try the duck but my understanding is that Milady enjoyed it. And we left room for dessert… the biggest disappointment I think of the entire evening. The house specialties were souffles of three different varieties: chocolate, Grand Marnier, and some other flavor which we didn’t get. The desserts arrive and are these over-the-top items that seemed to more like a Yorkshire pudding than a souffle… mine was VERY eggy and off-putting. So… $268 later we wander out to go find ScaryTeddy who had left her keys in our room apparently and was too freaked to walk the hallways of the ship by herself.
Once we located her at the Observation Bar we wandered back to our room to pack up our things to get another room with a bigger bed… unpack again… escort ScaryTeddy off the ship (yes, she was that freaked out at night) and then make our way to the Observation Bar for a couple of drinks before calling it a night…
Friday came along… so Milady and I decided to grab breakfast at the Promenade Cafe. Not a bad set-up… too bad our server could not pronounce buffet… it was pronounced “bu-fett” like Boba Fett. Milady laughed at that one… and opted to avoid the “bu-fett” that day and get the “Kings Breakfast” (unable to pull up a breakfast menu there). And I decided to be brave and go for the Belgian Waffle. Her breakfast was good with the exception that it was to come with juice and coffee or tea… she only got juice and was never asked about the other part (I blame the crappy server). My waffle seemed to be okay… but not crispy like I think it should be.
Breakfast concludes… and we are awaiting ScaryTeddy to arrive so we might wander about and do whatever… while we are waiting for her, Milady and I explore the ship… like walk nearly the entire ship while awaiting ScaryTeddy’s arrival. She arries and we take off to go see the latest Harry Potter movie and grab lunch.
*more to come later*
